Anne Frank

Today I got to walk through the place where Anne Frank and her family hid from Nazis for two years. Anne Frank is well known for writing about her experience of the holocaust. She was only 13 when she had to go into hiding. She was just a kid and had so much to live for. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it out of the holocaust alive.  Even though she was limited to stay in the house, she still had hope for the future and tried to see the positive in things . Honestly, Anne Frank is an inspiration in my life. She was so young when she had to go through something bad but she still had dreams. She reminds me to alway look at the positive in things.

I think what makes her contribution in society important was her age. In her diary, readers can totally see Anne’s personality. She wrote down what she was going through personally. People feel sympathy for her because she was robbed of so much in her life. It shows how bad the holocaust was. Having Anne be the symbol of what Jews went through shows how unfair and inhumane the holocaust was. Anne was just an innocent kid who was hated by her own country because she was Jewish. It brings awareness that some one religion shouldn’t impact what people think of them.

I think Anne Frank has been commemorated well. She has plays and movies made about her, a museum dedicated to her, a famous diary, and is taught in schools. Mostly, everyone around the world knows about her and what she's been through. The memory of her will alway live on which I think is more important than all of the other things. She got to be the famous writer she always wanted to be. All she went through didn’t go to waste and she brought awareness from a teens perspective on what she went through during the holocaust. Having her memory live through the years will hopefully stop other genocides from happening. She went through so much in her short life but that didn’t stop her dreams from coming true.

  3. Really great comment Audrey! Anne Frank contributes to Amsterdam's culture because she shows how the Dutch people and Dutch Jews were oppressed. Her house and the fact that she had to go into hiding helps show the really tragic parts of a cities history. Preserving her house and making it a museum adds to Amsterdam's cultural capital.
