Brussels: EU Parliament

Today, I got to walk through EU Parliament building.  This is the building where the European Union meets together to adopt and amend legislative proposal. The room picture above is where the member meet to debate and decide what laws to amend. One things that cool about seating in this room is that instead of seating with your country, the member instead sit with their political party. I found this cool because it unites the countries instead of dividing them. People can be around other people with the same political view as them and it doesn't matter what language they speak. I also like how translator are there so they language doesn't stop divide people.

I believe the EU Parliament building is important historically because it shows how far along Europe has came to united governments policies. The parliament was first a common assembly for the European Coal and Steel Community. At first the parliament had no legislative power but with it's complex structure and already people a comment assembly, Europe decided to build on to to be the union where Europe come to agree/disagrees to policies. It took awhile for the parliament to gain enough power to control the European Union but that shows that it takes time to build a union. They show that disagreement don't have to be a bad thing among countries and instead can help unite countries find common solution to help dispute their disagreement.

The European Union Parliament building marks Belgium as the capital of Europe. It the place where all the other countries in Europe meet up for NATO and the EU. The parliament building brings people from everywhere to decide laws. It shows that Belgium is diverse and welcoming of all countries. It marks Belgium as an important country and people can looks at the parliament building and see how far they came to make the world a better place. It brings strength Belgium and also helps show notice to Belgium. Belgium use to be overlook as a country but one day the citizens of Belgium decided that they are as important as the other countries. The parliament building helps prove that they are as important as everyone.
