Day 6 - Paris (5/5/24) (personal post)

 My last day in Paris! :(

In the morning we got to see a piano concert. Honestly I was amazed at the pianist. She played this 30 minute piece without a music sheet in front of here. I wish I can play as good as her!

After the concert, I got to go inside the louvre. Did you know if you look at each art piece for 30 seconds, it will take you more than a month to get through the whole museum. I got to see the Mona Lisa and admire all the sculptures. It was cool to walk around the place but also tiring at the same time.

I then got to walk across the seine and look through the green boxes. I loved looking at all the posters and books for sell and I did get more pins.

My favorite part of the day was going to Shakespeare and Company. It is the cutest English bookstore ever and if you’re a huge book nerd or not, you need to go there. The inside is so tiny and filled with all types of books. You can go upstairs and read books in the cutest reading rooms. It is totally worth going to.


After that I got Thai for dinner which was very delicious.

 
To end the day, I got to go to mass. It was the cooling things to experience. The music echoed around the church and really brought the spirit. The church was also so pretty.


I enjoyed my time in Paris and had so much fun but I can’t wait to visit the other cities!

    I love that bookstore. Feels like a harry potter store. Did you eat in the Latin quarter?

    Beautiful pictures!! Crazy how small the Mona Lisa is. I’m glad you were able to go to that bookstore. It is so fun.

Palais Garnier (Opera House) (4/30/24)

When I entered the Palais Garnier, the first I noticed was the lighting of the place. The grand staircase is lit up by chandelier of bright light and is supported by a small square glass ceiling. The lighting makes the place seem magically and made the painting and sculptures around it stand out. In the grand foyer, the gold on the walls and ceiling helped make the painting stand out. I noticed all the painting are at the top of the walls or on the ceiling and columns/structure of the walls helped directed  I believe that the Palais Garnier is important culturally because it was built of the middle-class of Paris. Napoleon could see that the middle class was riding in status and he had to represent them. Back then Palais were for the nobility so Napoleon wanted to make a Palais for the middle class so they had a place to flaunt their riches. Simone de Beauvoir

  One women that made a difference in Paris is Simone de Beauvoir. Simone is a french writer and philosopher. She is most known for writing The Second Sex which brought awareness of the status of women and is also apart of the French feminist movement. She broke a lot of social rules in her day by not getting married and being critical of women rights so she can prove her point that women are overlooked in society. She brought awareness to women and fought for women to be seen. Even though I don't agree to her lifestyle, I think she is an amazing person. I like how she wasn't afraid to call people out. I also like how honest and raw her thoughts and action are. She wrote how thing actually are and didn't try to sugarcoats things. She an amazing example that sometimes you have to broke social rule to get your point across. Her contribution to being a feminist changed how society should view women. Simone bluntly called out men and women to contributing to men being superior
